Captured Moments

As mentioned in my list of interests, I love photography. My particular specialties are macro and nature, so every now and then, I'll share a little bit of what my camera and I see. Each photo on this page is my own work.

I have a Sony Alpha 77 DSLR, 30mm Macro lens, and a Tamron 18mm-270mm lens.
I'll be delving into my collection for future upload.  Remember to click on the photo to view the full size; I have a quality camera, and the photos I choose are of good quality, so it's worth viewing them in a way that does justice to that millisecond in time. Hopefully I can keep this up :)

Subtlety
I love my yellow rose for the rich scent it produces.

Scarred
One of my absolute favourites, this deep crimson rose bud ended up with a 'tear' of green as if the leaves had grown through the petals. Personally, I love how the camera concentrated on the areas that have the most detail and managed to blur parts around it to focus the attention. A close-up of how nature's path has variations.

Reaching Deep
The red roots of a golden cane palm in my garden. Although they are small and only noticed if you look closely at the base, they are sturdy and the reason why the tree lives.

Vibrant Presence
Thanks to the lighting, this crimson frangipani appears as more of an intense pink. It was one of the many plants cared for in the garden of a dear teacher and friend.

Delicate Raindrop
On the day where the rain stopped long enough to capture its impact on the garden, I found some of the drops had befriended these little berries.

Miniature Beauty
A hanging basket in the garden that holds delicate little alyssums.

Nature need not a music box
I rediscovered my small winding music box. It plays a hauntingly delicate rendition of 'Greensleeves' that seemed appropriate of a forest-like setting. This was the closest I could get in the meantime.

Slowly releasing the power and beauty within
At the start of the week, there was some wonderfully soaking rain to moisten the soil. When it stopped, I took the opportunity to explore the garden and enjoy the flowers I've planted and how they appear especially vibrant after the rain. Here is my crimson red rose plant focusing it's energy on this one bud. It takes a long time for the bud to appear, open and live.

Captured a single moment in a lifetime of millions, trillions, of moments.
One rainy day in January 2014 and the gutter was overflowing. Some streams of water fell on the grass, others on the leaves of this rose plant.

Tranquil stroll through a botanical garden

January 14, 2014, walking with absolute wonder through the garden of one of my dear teachers as we took a break from our intense, yet very enjoyable, card games. 500 and Texas Hold 'em were the games of choice. Their extensive garden is a peaceful walk, and a reminder of how much effort goes into maintaining such a delightful place. I had a great time snapping at the various plants and decoration. These were only two of what had to be around 100 photos. Maybe more of them will be shared :)

Reflecting on the year that was, with reflections on the water.
December 31, 2013, waiting for the fireworks with my wonderful friends. Looking out over the harbour and seeing the houses across the hill indicating who is also celebrating the coming year through the laser show.
